Beverly Leftwich
Counseling
If depression or anxiety has been making it hard to get through your days – affecting your work, your relationships and your sense of self – you’ve come to the right place.
I’m Beverly Leftwich, a licensed therapist with more than fifteen years of clinical experience.
Throughout my career, I’ve had opportunities to step into leadership, but the work I value most has always been working directly with clients and helping them create meaningful change in their lives.
In my Menlo Park practice, I combine the insight of talk therapy with practical, evidence-based tools to help you better understand what’s happening in your mind and body, navigate difficult situations with greater confidence, and build skills that continue to serve you long after therapy.
How I Can Help
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety that won’t quiet down, depression that has taken the enjoyment out of your days, or the weight of a difficult period of your life – there are sound, evidence-based strategies that can genuinely help.
My approach draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practice and selected DBT skills - integrated with neuroscience-informed techniques that explain not just what to do, but why it works. Practical tools you can actually use, grounded in how the brain changes and heals.
Services
Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety is not a character flaw - it is your brain running a very old protection program in a world that has changed. Understanding why you worry is the first step toward changing your relationship with it. Practical, evidence-based roots for adults managing anxiety.
Depression Therapy
Depression is a medical condition that affects how the brain functions - not a failure of will or a weakness of character. With the right support, people can genuinely get better. Evidence-based therapy that holds hope on your behalf until you can hold it for yourself.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT is the most extensively researched form of psychotherapy available. By learning to identify the automatic thought patterns that drive anxiety and depression, you can change how you think, feel and respond - building new neural pathways that make healthier responses increasingly natural.
DBT Skills & Mindfulness
Drawing selectively on DBT’s core skills - mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness - integrated with CBT in a practical, cohesive toolkit for adults navigating anxiety, depression and the complexities of daily life.
