You Don’t Have to Keep Feeling This Way
If depression or anxiety has been making it hard to get through your days – affecting your work, your relationships and your sense of self – you’ve come to the right place.
I’m Beverly Leftwich, a licensed therapist with over fifteen years of clinical experience. For several of those years I served as Clinician II in the Adult Mood Program at the Scrivener Center for Mental Health and Addiction Services at El Camino Health – widely regarded as one of the leading mental health programs in the country. While there I carried a full caseload, helped shape treatment strategy and program curriculum, and stepped in to lead the program when needed. When offered the Program Lead role, I turned it down – because working directly with patients is what I love most, and why I became a therapist in the first place.
I bring the same commitment to my private practice in Menlo Park.
You will benefit from the insights of talk therapy, and my approach goes beyond that. I will help you to understand what is happening in your mind and body, teach you evidence-based skills that actually work, and support you in building the confidence to use them. As you begin to integrate these practical skills, how you learn to cope with difficult situations begins to define you more than the stressors that brought you here.
How I Can Help
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety that won’t quiet down, depression that has taken the enjoyment out of your days, or the weight of a stressful period of your life – there are sound, effective strategies that can help. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) - approaches that are grounded in neuroscience and proven to create lasting change.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps you recognize the thought patterns that are keeping you stuck - and learn to challenge them. It is practical, skill-based approach that offers you tools you can use in your life.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy teaches you how to use mindfulness based skills to manage strong emotions, navigate difficult relationships and tolerate distress.
